Winter Bushcraft Meet/Green Ridge State Forest, January 2013

Bushcraft USA Forum, Mid Atlantic Winter Meet at Green Ridge State Forest in MD. 15 Degrees Friday night! Good Bunch of guys, it was a pleasure to meet them. Will be looking forward to the next one.

Breaking in the new BK 4/Backyard Bushcraft

Got a new BK 4 and wanted to try it out. I have been pinched for time, so the backyard had to do. I did get to give the Machaxe (sp) a good workout. I really like it. Did a great job right out of the box. It has earned a place attached to my woods bag from now on!

Day Hike at Piney Run Park

Couple of weeks ago, I hit Piney Run Park to check out their hiking trails. Not bad at all. Pretty easy hiking with some good scenery. Most of their trails were near the lake and were well maintained. Gonna go back in the winter for a longer hike, will probably have lunch on the trail.

100th Anniversary of the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America Camporee

Thomas and I and Troop 381 headed to Oregon Ridge Park for the 100th Anniversary of the Baltimore Area Scout Council Camporee. Friday weather was great. Some logistical issues getting like 2000 Boy Scouts into a relatively confined area, but with some work and humping alot of gear, we managed to get set up. Saturday had lots of activities, of which I will post a few pics. Froze my ass off Saturday night, but they had several local rock bands for our entertainment. An awesome laser light show and probably the best fireworks display I have seen in 20 years. The fireworks were timed to some good rock music. All in all a good time. Of course it rained Sunday morning when we were packing up, just enough that now we have to dry all our gear out. Home now, and today will be a do nothing, relax day.
